We’re on the lookout for a GIS Data Sourcing Intern to help us wrangle the mysteries of GIS data and track down location datasets from all over the world. This paid internship for students runs from January 2026 through the end of summer term (mid-August 2026). We’re looking for a minimum of 15+ hours/week during winter/spring Terms, with the chance to work additional hours during the summer.
This role is onsite, non-remote, in our Orem, UT office.
What you’ll do
- Research and explore a variety of data sources for geographic information
- Assist with validating, cleaning, and organizing datasets
- Support the building of pipelines to process geospatial data for internal use
- Pitch in on data-related tasks like scripting, analysis, or simple automation
- Work alongside product managers and engineers to learn how location data fuels real products
- Gain experience in spatial analysis to support product planning and decision-making
- Help ensure data quality and consistency across systems
What we’re looking for
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
- Familiarity with geographic and international datasets
- Curiosity about tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, Alteryx, or SQL (hands-on experience is a bonus)
- An interest in turning messy datasets into meaningful insights
- Eager to learn about APIs, databases, and geospatial applications (bonus if you’ve dabbled already)
- Enthusiasm, persistence, and a knack for problem solving
