The GEnx ID&B Cold Section Structures Lead Engineer will be responsible of hardware ownership of composites fan structural hardware, as well as assisting on services and field projects on other cold section structures hardware - both composite and metallic.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ownership of fan composites structural hardware
  • Additional responsibility to own or assist on projects involving other fan and/or HPC structures hardware. This includes both metallic and composites parts, and for projects involving repair, serviceability, and field investigations.
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of structures design engineering. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
     

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in design engineering
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.  We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Experience in structures design engineering, either metallic and/or composites.
  • Preliminary understanding of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul process as it relates to engine hardware.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
