The Communications Department in the Enrollment Division is currently recruiting for a Digital Content Creator. UVA undergraduate and graduate students are
welcome to apply but must be recipients of federal work study for further
consideration from the hiring manager. This position is 100% in-person and will be located in Booker House, 1709 University Ave on the UVA campus.
Department Overview
At the University of Virginia, the Enrollment division works to recruit, enroll, and support UVA’s student body. Enrollment offices at UVA include the Office of Undergraduate Admission, Office of the University Registrar, UVA One Stop, AdviseVA, and Commonwealth Partnerships. The Enrollment communications team serves as a central resource for these units helping to shape and share the University’s story. Enrollment Communications is building a Student Creative Team, composed of three different positions to help support the communications work of our unit.
Position Overview
The Digital Content Creator supports storytelling by gathering and creating content that reflects the real UVA student experience — from visuals to written content – keeping the Enrollment team in tune with what’s trending among the student body. This position helps discover stories in communities or corners across Grounds, finding the memorable, interesting, and uniquely-UVA stories that bring the University to life. The person in this position will gain hands-on experience in content creation and posting, contributing to communications campaigns, providing honest feedback on design and messaging, and helping create and shape content that feels genuine and current.

General Responsibilities
- Find stories from a wide variety of student spaces and perspectives.
- Capture and curate authentic, student-centered content through photography, videography, and writing.
- Edit and prepare content for use across Enrollment communications channels.
- Help monitor and optimize Enrollment campaigns on our digital channels.
- Provide input and feedback on Enrollment’s communication and creative projects.
- Contribute to photo/video shoots and visual storytelling – finding and confirming student participants, helping to capture content, and helping coordinate project logistics.
- Attend regular meetings with other students who make up the Student Creative Team.
- Collaborate with full-time communications team members across Enrollment offices.
Skills and Qualifications
- Must be eligible for a Federal Work-Study award that can be applied to this role
- Must be willing to work 10-20 hours per week, with at least 2 hours in-office, scheduled in conjunction with other Student Creative Team members to enable collaboration
- Strong digital media skills, with an emphasis on existing Enrollment channels (Instagram, YouTube)
- A passion for storytelling, with experience capturing compelling content in photography or videography
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with team members and fellow students
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks
- Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset

Anticipated compensation for undergraduates will be $15.00 per hour and $16.00 per hour for graduate students.
