Job Summary
Due to an exciting period of growth, we are now seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician with specialist knowledge and experience in industrial paints and coatings, to join our busy team here in our East Cowes facility.
Previous experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry would be preferred, but applications from people with solid experience in similar industries (marine, automotive etc.) will be equally welcomed.
PLEASE NOTE This position requires UK National Security Vetting (UKNSV) Security clearance (SC) due to the nature and responsibilities of the work carried out. In order for us to obtain an SC you usually need to have been resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years to current date (but we do assess each case individually).
Job Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the implementation of Materials and Process methods and solutions, from original concept through to production.
- Deploying these processes with a high degree of process capability, utilising the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite to demonstrate as such.
- Technical support of manufacturing development and integration for production.
- Resolving issues pertaining to vendor quality.
- Providing specialist knowledge to production activities, with the ultimate goal of improving efficiency, product quality, and the reduction of non-conforming parts.
- Monitoring of production by both test and audit, ensuring robust process selection, implementation, and control.
- Supporting the delivery and deployment of a robust, repeatable, and reliable manufacturing process that meets all the requirements
Job Qualifications
Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:
ESSENTIAL
- Materials Science and Engineering background (qualifications and work experience) with experience in pre-treatments and coating applications on metallic and composite materials.
- Understanding of sprayed coatings, such as paints, although other similar coatings would be considered.
- Creation of technical documents and report writing, predominantly in the area of paints and coatings.
DESIRABLE
- Review and development of manufacture methods
Experience of lab based materials testing - Experience or working with and ISO9001 or NADCAP environment.
- Report writing and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work and to deliver under own initiative
- Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment
