We’re looking for a forward-thinking, people-driven Lead Standards Development Manager to lead the way in developing cutting-edge standards that respond to market needs, government priorities, and industry trends.
Our head office is based in The Acre, a landmark office building in the heart of Covent Garden. We occupy two levels designed to foster collaboration, support hybrid working, and promote wellbeing, creativity, and productivity. The Acre also sets new benchmarks for sustainability. It is solar-powered, fully electric, and built with environmental impact in mind. The building has achieved BREEAM Outstanding and NABERS 4.5-star certifications, supporting our journey to net zero.

Responsibilities:
- Lead a high-profile portfolio in sustainable construction.
- Spot opportunities early — identify where new standards are needed and turn ideas into action.
- Build powerful networks with government, trade bodies, industry leaders, and consumers to influence and promote the role of standards.
- Represent BSI on the big stage — speak at events, build awareness, and champion the value of standards.
- Drive committee work forward — manage expert groups, support Chairs, and make sure projects are delivered on time.
- Own the strategy — plan long-term goals, develop business cases, and shape go-to-market strategies for new standards.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- A strategic, commercial mindset with a knack for spotting market gaps and future trends.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills — you’ll be comfortable presenting, negotiating, and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
- Project management skills — you can juggle multiple priorities and still deliver.
- A natural relationship-builder who can lead expert groups, facilitate consensus, and manage conflict when needed.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and a passion for making a tangible impact.
