Job Description

Riceland Foods is hiring a Safety Manager for New Madrid, MO. The Safety Manager will monitor and report on the overall Safety of the facility, and ensure employees have a safe working environment.  Enforce use of Safety equipment.


Job Duties

•    Monitor and report on the overall Safety of the facility, and ensure employees have a safe working environment.  Enforce use of Safety equipment.

•    Attend training as required by supervisor(s).

•    Lead/Serve on the Division Safety Committee to ensure uniformity in the administration and implementation of Corporate and Division policies and                      procedures.

•    Coordinate and/or provide monthly Safety training and testing, including accident investigation, hazard identification, task analysis, Safety orientation, and          job instruction training.

•    Coordinate and/or provide Safety consultation to engineering, construction, 3rd party contractors and/ or maintenance personnel as necessary concerning          construction and related projects.

•    Perform a periodic Safety audit of each area involving all aspects of the facility Safety program to identify unsafe working conditions and practices and                prepare written reports for the Director of Operations/Director of Corporate Safety and department managers with appropriate recommendations.

•    Investigate all accidents and incidents relating to Safety of personnel or property damage, and report findings to the Division Safety Committee.

•    Collect, analyze, and distribute data and keep management informed of accident trends.

•    Accompany state, federal, and insurance inspectors or all visits within the premises.

•    Review and make recommendations concerning selecting, purchase, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

•    Coordinate annual hearing and air quality testing.

•    Inform management of laws, directives, and codes concerning all things related to facility Safety.

•    Achieve professional certificate.

•    Performs the majority of job functions at job site.

•    Other duties may be assigned.


Education Requirements

Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school: or six months to one-year related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A minimum of two years of management or direct supervisory experience is preferred.  


Supervisory Responsibilities                  

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include addressing complaints, resolving problems and providing training regarding safety issues.
