Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the work and performance of all Transportation department associates including Drivers, Driver Helpers, Coordinators, Router, and Driver Supervisors.
  • Implements organizational or departmental processes or policy changes.
  • Assists with the development of safety standards, policies, or procedures.
  • Inspects condition or functioning of facilities or equipment and notifies appropriate internal or external parties when repairs are needed.
  • Purchases materials, equipment, or other resources needed for day-to-day operations in the department. 
  • Collaborate with members of Sales and other Operational departments to accomplish deliveries and resolve customer complaints or problems. 
  • Analyzes data from payroll, fleet tracking software and ERP systems to inform operational decisions and activities.
  • Support ongoing training, certifications, and career growth opportunities for team members.
  • Implement initiatives for fuel efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.
  • Develops emergency response plans or procedures, as needed.
  • Documents organizational or operational procedures to be used for training new and current team members.
  • Review and monitor the activities of Drivers to ensure safety or compliance with NYS, DOT, and company policies.
  • Prepare operational budgets for the department with support from the Vice President of Operations.
  • Interview, select, and train all incoming Transportation department associates. 
  • Works with the Vice President of Operations and Manager of Facilities to negotiate rates and contracts for fuel supply.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience is required. Experience motivating, developing, and directing people as they work and identifying the best people for the job.
  • Prior experience overseeing the movement/delivery of product over the road.
  • Extensive knowledge of State and Federal DOT regulations.
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills as well as ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented. 
  • Able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office Suite software (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to negotiate and bring others together and trying to reconcile differences.
  • Must be able to take a systems analysis approach to determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Utilizes routing software, fleet management systems, and ERP platforms to optimize delivery operations
  • Fosters a positive team culture and promotes employee engagement and development
  • Previous food service experience is an advantage.
Salary Range:
  • $75,000- $100,000 a year

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, sit.
  • Must be able to use hands to handle and feel objects, perform fine finger movements, reach with hands and arms, and have the ability to see, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment for extended periods with temperatures reaching -10, if needed.
  • Possess normal vision with or without correction and able to distinguish colors
  • Possess fluent speech in English, writing and communication skills necessary to effectively carry out job functions
