Duties
Under the direction of Outdoor Recreation Director, directs and manages all phases of the Hillberg Ski Area (H.S) and Otter Lake/Paintball (OLP). Management of the ski area and Otter lake will include supervision of a retail sales store, snack bar, ski/snowboard equipment repair/rental shop, ski slopes and lifts, ski patrol, support facilities, cabin and rv sites, water boat rentals, paintball operation and any additional duties. Responsible for all administration, financial management, resource protection, and identification of employees. Initiates personnel actions, maintains staff personnel records, conducts employee meetings, schedules/approves leaves, and administers disciplinary measures as required. Serves as the primary equipment custodian for the NAF and APF equipment accounts for H.S and OLP. Ensures, program budget program compliance, performs the full range of supervision of subordinate employees, evaluated program effectiveness, represents program to customers and coordinates support services with Civil Engineers, Safety, Security Forces and Bio-Environmental. Establishes duty schedules and performs safety briefings. All employees training must be met prior to season (all FSS trainings, RecTrac training, Marker-binding, ski tech, snow lift & machine operations, boater safety certifications, etc.). Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing for all employees. All standards and regulations of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) must be met daily, monthly, and annually. Our record keeping system -Mountain Management- must be completed according to ANSI guidelines. Individual logs must be kept for each lift throughout the season. Schedule annual ski inspection and fix deficiencies, complete annual maintenance for cabins and the surrounding areas of Otter Lake to include paintball field. Researches, interprets, analyzes, and applies Air Force, FSS, and unit guidelines, policies, and regulations. Maintains an on-going communicative rapport with base support agencies such as Civil Engineers, unit commanders, and first sergeants. Responsible for submitting all required marketing materials or work orders prior to the deadlines. Submit proper work order(s) for any maintenance problems inside/outside of all the facilities. Responsible for ordering all retail items, ski lift tickets, season passes, and any other items needed for the OL/paintball operation. Produce purchase request and receiving reports. Oversee all the personal service contracts. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: 1 year of experience with operating a ski hill is preferred. Be familiar with all training requirements to meet ANSI regulations for ski hill operation. Working knowledge of winter recreation activities, i.e., alpine skiing, snowboarding, sledding, etc is preferred. Skill in dealing with the public is preferred. Applicant must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals or groups using degree of tack and diplomacy. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Background Check (Tier One). Must be able to lift, handle, and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, and with assistance objects up to and over 50 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment Physical. Must either have First Aid and CPR, Wilderness First Responder, EMT, or Outdoor First Care medical certification, or gain certifications within 4 month period after selection.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
