Major/Essential Functions
- Plans, prepares and assigns work schedule each week in accordance with priority guidance. Assists Engineering
- Services and project managers on technical subjects. Prepares correspondence and reports and conducts studies
- Establishes preventive maintenance program for all new E&G systems. Schedules, maintains and documents E&G preventive/recurring maintenance program.
- Provides operational control, direction & management over the Electric shop work center to include: recurring maintenance to installed equipment, maintenance of all campus street lights, preventive maintenance programs, emergency response plans and repairs of emergency generators. Conducts a continual and formal on-the-job training program, including apprenticeship training program, designed to increase proficiency of assigned personnel
- Supervises and prepares all administrative/personnel actions within the assigned work center such as performance evaluations annually. Initiates disciplinary action and review/submit attendance reports.
- Evaluates job or project material requirements and prepares requisition for materials from supply warehouse or vendor.
- Reviews new construction project plans and prepares cost estimates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Completion of Maintenance Management for First Line Supervisors course preferred, but not required. Technical training courses including, but not limited to, the electrical field preferred, but not required. Functional in computer software programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Excel and TMA preferred, but not required.
- Supervisory training courses preferred, but not required.
- Strong leadership skills, mature judgment, sound management ability and personal integrity.
- Excellent working knowledge & hands-on experience in the electrical field including working knowledge of natural gas & diesel engine-powered generator set to include: extensive background in troubleshooting, repairing & maintaining electrical systems TP600 volt & lower for electric generators.
- Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal, to deal with customers, shop personnel & other department personnel. Valid drivers' license & ability to operate motor vehicle.
- Must meet minimum physical fitness requirements.
- Dust mask respirator certification is not required when employee voluntarily chooses to wear dust mask respirator.
