We're Houst 🏠: A professional management service for properties. Our mission is to make hosting on websites hassle-free for everyone using technology to disrupt the short-term accommodation sector. We’ve grown fast. Since launching in 2015, we’ve partnered with thousands of happy hosts, helping them to make important earnings. The business has now expanded worldwide – we’re operating in over 20 cities globally, from Auckland to Lisbon, and there’s a lot more to come. From holidaymakers to full-time landlords, host happiness is central to everything we do.
About the role:
We are looking for a highly analytical Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be curious, detail-driven, and skilled at turning raw data into meaningful insights that inform decision-making across the business.
Your primary focus will be on data analysis, reporting, and building tools that make insights accessible to teams across Houst. You’ll work closely with our Pricing Analyst and wider business teams, supporting revenue and occupancy goals through data-led recommendations. While some pricing experience is a plus, this role is much broader, spanning BI development, stakeholder education, and long-term strategy for data and reporting.
Key responsibilities:
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Ensure the core data model is accurate, accessible, and easy to consume for end users
- Maintain and improve Looker (including bug fixing, cleaning datasets, and user enablement)
- Design intuitive dashboards and Explores to surface key business metrics
- Build and maintain “production assets” that support long-term BI strategy
- Train and support business users on BI tools and data interpretation
Data Analysis
- Analyse large datasets (e.g. property performance, occupancy, revenue, RevPAR)
- Provide insights that support cross-functional teams, from operations to growth
- Interpret statistical models and identify trends or opportunities across the business
- Deliver clear, data-backed reports and recommendations to stakeholders
Pricing & Revenue Support
- Collaborate with the Pricing Analyst to monitor property performance and market trends
- Support pricing strategies by providing competitor and market data
- Help identify opportunities to maximise revenue through data-driven insights
Market & Trend Analysis
- Conduct ongoing competitor and market reviews
- Spot emerging shifts in demand, customer behaviour, or regional performance
- Provide analysis that helps Houst stay ahead of market changes
Requirements
- Strong ability to collect, organise, analyse, and interpret complex datasets with accuracy
- Hands-on SQL experience, with knowledge of ETL processes
- Proficiency with BI and visualisation tools (Looker, Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- A proactive mindset, able to identify opportunities and take initiative
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data in a clear and simple way
- Familiarity with pricing models, revenue management systems, or dynamic pricing tools
- Experience with Looker ML
- Knowledge of statistics and predictive analytics
