Support Worker- Wigan en Home Instead

We are seeking a professional and dedicated Support Worker to join our organisation in Wigan, United Kingdom. As a Support Worker, you will be entrusted with the critical responsibility of providing high-quality care and support to individuals, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

• Shift patterns will consist of mornings 07:00-14:15 and evenings 16:00-22:00.
• Provide essential personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Manage medication administration and assist with meal preparation, adhering to dietary requirements
• Maintain a hygienic and safe living environment, offering professional companionship and emotional support
• Assist with mobility and transfers, utilising appropriate equipment and following safety protocols
• Monitor and report changes in service users' health or wellbeing to the care coordinator
• Maintain accurate records of care provided and collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members
• Strictly adhere to health and safety regulations and organisational policies
• Participate in mandatory training and professional development opportunities
• Work alternate weekends and operate across Wigan and surrounding areas as required.

• Strong interpersonal skills with a caring and empathetic approach
• Excellent time management and organisational abilities
• Basic healthcare knowledge and understanding of person-centred care
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical stamina to perform care tasks and assist with mobility
• Previous experience in domiciliary care or a similar role is preferred
• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification is desirable
• First Aid certification is advantageous
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to protecting vulnerable adults
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
• Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle may be required
• Compassionate and patient demeanour
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
• Basic IT skills for accurate record-keeping
• Enthusiasm for making a positive difference in people's lives
