Detailed Description:

Mission of the Role:

This role champions India leadership in direct material procurement, orchestrating value from commodity purchasing and other cross functional teams to secure new business wins for Visteon India and transitions it to the Forward Model Program Purchasing team for flawless launch execution. The mission is also to provide leadership to the entire pursuit purchasing team including deep collaboration with the Product Line leadership. You will play a strategic role in helping to drive actions towards profitable businesses for Visteon and the specific Product Line

Key objectives of this Role:

  • Responsible for delivering mature, competitive costed BOMs for for each customer round that meets the target material content / Material margin in on

    • Displays

    • Clusters & 2W

    • CDC, Infotainment & HPC

    • Electrification

  • Work closely with Product Line leaders & Sales to determine clear “Should cost” and Customer targets for the product design well ahead of the RFQ process

  • Demonstrate leadership and product knowledge depth in interactions with Commodity teams and key suppliers to help challenge design and costs

  • Lead/ support cross functional discussions with PL and commodity teams to pre-align on gaps to “should-cost” that enables an agreed “BOM task” on both design and commercial teams

  • Drive for forecasted Pursuit Engg BOMs and co-develop „Platform Costed BOMs“ ahead of G0

  • Develop Platform cBOM database focusing on the Critical parts ahead of customer RFQs to secure a Round 1 – Gate 1 (R1G1) maturity

  • Engagement with commodity leads and drive product design and BOM Cost optimization ideas ahead of customer RFQ

  • Tech engagement on product architecture along with PL lead – Bridge between Tech roadmaps & Commodity strategies

  • Challenge and work with Commodity on volume consolidation strategy incl pursuit forecasts (need PL & Sales support on volumes)

  • Ensure PL is developing BOM with „Design for sourcing“ approach – avoid NFND/ EOL & select latest tech parts.

  • Engage with key suppliers jointly with PL and Commodity leadership to pitch for future opportunities

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Drive for NBW with aggressive material margins for all C and D pursuits

  • Drive for early maturity : Should costs (PL) and CBOM

  • Minimize gap between purchasing commitment & should cost by x %

  • Robustness in design and supplier quote assumptions for Top 5 cost contributors at G0 itself

  • Ensure seamless transition to execution team with key assumptions/ tasks and risks at G1 for maintaining margins

 

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master preferred, Electrical Engineering preferred

  • 15 years in responsible roles within an international business environment and procurement/purchasing lead experience

  • Strong knowledge of supply base and costing of various commodities

  • Ability to clearly present sourcing strategy for projects and risk assessments

  • Ability to lead cross functional teams with focus and accountability.

  • Effective negotiation skills

  • Value Chain analysis (VAVE, TQCM)

  • Effective presentation skills and Strong communication skills

  • Knowledge about EV market and suppliers to support EV Product portfolios .

  • Ability to balance risk and achieve lowest material cost within very tight deadlines
