You want to play a part in making NSW a better place to work, live and travel.

You have the opportunity to gain a wealth of expertise and a diverse range of skills, providing insight and knowledge without losing sight of your work-life balance or wellbeing.

In this role, you'll:

Join our Customer Journey Operations team as a Transport Operations Controller, where you will monitor our state road and transport network in real time, identifying incidents and congestion as they happen across all transport modes. You’ll coordinate quick responses, working closely with teams on the ground and supporting the Senior Transport Operations Controller.

You’ll proactively monitor clearway corridors and respond to instances of vehicles parked in clearways, bus lanes, transit lanes and other prescribed places by dispatching tow tracks to ensure maximum utilization of the road network, and ensure accurate records are kept for follow-up.

You will track the performance of traffic signal systems and report faults that could affect traffic flow. Using GRN radio, you’ll stay in constant contact with field staff to manage planned and unplanned events and will provide live updates to the Transport Management Centre (TMC) communications team, so customers stay informed.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position located on site at our Transport Management Centre (TMC) in Eveleigh. This is a 24/7 operations control room and therefore you will be required to work a rotating roster covering day and night shifts and often be available on public holidays throughout the year as required. As this is a shift work position, attractive penalty and overtime rates, along with 5 weeks annual leave per year will apply.

About you

You have experience working in a control room environment, ideally within the Transport sector, although experience working in an emergency services control room or similar would also be highly regarded. You are an effective communicator, comfortable working in high-pressure environments, and you're confident making decisions on the spot.

You are comfortable using technology, able to use dispatch systems, radio communications, and traffic or transport monitoring tools (or similar) with ease, and possess intermediate computer literacy. Knowledge of common NSW road rules including clearway and parking restrictions, and principal transport modes in Sydney and across NSW would also be beneficial.

You are also comfortable working within a 24/7 operations room on a rotating roster that includes weekends and public holidays and are a team player who will contribute to our high performing team culture.
