Are you a detail-oriented Cost Accountant with a passion for efficiency and cost control?
Are you an experienced accounting professional with a deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting? We are seeking a Cost Accountant to bring their expertise to our financial team, focusing on detailed cost analysis and strategic financial management within a manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will take ownership of analyzing manufacturing costs, developing and maintaining standard costs, and collaborating across departments to drive cost efficiency and improve financial performance. Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze manufacturing, labor, and overhead costs to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare variance reports, trend analyses, and key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
- Develop and maintain standard costing and collaborate with operations to improve cost accuracy.
Inventory & Sales Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze inventory reports (levels, aging, slow-moving, obsolete stock).
- Process monthly sales commissions and generate sales data reports.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.
Financial & Compliance Support:
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and company policies.
- Support internal and external audits with cost-related data.
Process Improvement & Collaboration:
- Identify and implement cost reduction strategies.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies.
- Work closely with purchasing, operations, and finance teams to improve cost controls.
- Assist with special projects and reporting requirements as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with cost accounting experience in manufacturing required.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in ERP systems & accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, large data analysis).
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and generate meaningful reports.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
