Job Summary:
CSA Group has an opportunity for a Lead Auditor, based out of any of the CSA office locations in the United States supporting the North America operations. This role will be responsible for assisting with the activities that are involved in the on-site auditing of manufacturer’s quality management systems in support of accreditation to national and international conformity assessment programs for equipment used in an explosive atmosphere. Responsibilities: • Maintains assessment and surveillance audit schedules for IECEx and ATEX quality assurance Scheme. (QAR/QAN). • Maintains assessment and surveillance audit schedules for Management Systems quality assurance, such as ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO18001. • Monitors to ensure the audit completion. • Suggests recommendations of the programs as necessary. • Assists in the coordination of audit staff training and accreditations. • Facilitates the development of cooperative agreements with other agencies and Notified Bodies. • Assists in the development and maintenance of audit price guidelines. • Conducts quality audits as required and prepares final report. • Assists with dispute resolutions with Notified Body partners as required. • Assists manufacturers with non-compliant quality management systems to understand the requirements while at the same time not violating auditor impartiality. Education: • Post-secondary education (i.e. college degree) preferably in the field of electrical/electronic engineering. • Completion of recognized Lead Auditor course (40 hour in-class). • Experience of working in manufacturing environments. • For further qualifications and on the job training, refer to guideline CAN/CSA-ISO 19011:03 “Guidelines for Quality and /or Environmental Management Systems Auditing” Experience: • 5 years of experience in Hazardous Locations product approvals. • In addition to qualification as lead auditor, supervisory experience would be an asset. • Experience of working in manufacturing environments. Skills: • Familiarity with the manufacturing process would be an asset. • High degree of verbal and written communication skills required. • High degree of attentiveness required particularly during on-site audits. • Analytical skills required during on-site audits, determination of the degree of compliance of the manufacturers quality management system to the applicable quality standards. • On-site audits are condensed activities, which require the auditor to be focused, perceptive and decisive. Travel: • Extensive travel is required to locations, primarily but not limited to North America. • Duration of time away per audit trip is usually one week with two weeks away per month typical.
