Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
- 24-hour accountability for clinical direction of inpatient unit 
- Steps into charge nurse role as needed 
- Mentor, develop, and support Nurse Managers and Respiratory Therapy Supervisor 
- Support Managers in leadership of direct care staff 
- Participates in day-to-day leadership of unit including Employee/Patient rounds, Patient/MD concerns, process improvement concerns, 
- Responsible for daily management of unit to ensure high quality patient care is delivered & optimal outcomes are achieved 
- Effectively investigates, evaluates, and resolves concerns 
- Collaborates with Director & Providers on patient care model initiatives 
- Oversees staffing & scheduling process 
- Manages recruitment and retention of unit staff. 
- Oversees & facilitate staff meetings in conjunction with Managers 
- Participates in organization-wide & department committees 
- Completes HR related activities & performance evaluations on Managers 
- Ensures unit quality metrics are being met & develop action plans if improvement is needed 
- Oversees development of evidence-based policies, procedures, & guidelines that meet regulatory requirements 
- Maintains an effective working relationship with leadership throughout the organization 
- Keeps unit survey ready by EOC rounds & prepares staff for TJC, CMS, and other regulatory requirements. 
- Demonstrates the Scottish Rite CARE RITE values 
Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, BSN required, MSN preferred 
- Servant leadership, leading by example preferred 
- The ability to perceive, use, understand, manage, and handle emotions 
- Current Texas RN license or eligible for a temporary permit from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners 
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, with 2 years of supervisory experience or demonstrated management skills 
- Maintain current BLS certification and PALS certification from AHA. PALS may be obtained within 6 months of hire 
- Competent in the use of basic office machinery, Windows OS, and the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 
- EPIC experience preferred
