Job Details:
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the hatchery. This includes planning special projects related to maintaining an excellent hatching environment, ensuring chick cost is maintained, and administering personnel policies in a fair and consistent manner, while maintaining a safe working environment for team members. This includes making weekly hatch projections and seeking outside sources when necessary. Working with Quality Control to ensure proper procedures are followed and that proper cleaning has been done. Making sure hatchery mechanical performance, and preventative maintenance is a priority.
Other responsibilities include assisting the Hatchery Supervisor in safety training and the day-to-day training of the Team Members. Working with Breeder Technicians to ensure the best possible fertility of high-quality eggs and working with Broiler Technicians to maintain the best chick quality for the growers.
Other duties include proper fumigation of the eggs and maintaining proper incubation temperatures. Scheduling for the baby chicks to be delivered in a timely manner to the farm and performing other responsibilities as the need arises.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Experience: 1 plus years’ experience in a hatchery; more than 2 years supervisory experience
Computer Skills: Better than average MS Office computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word. Travel: 1 to 5 trips per year
Supervisory Skills: This position is responsible for supervising a group of personnel in a single department or work unit who perform similar and or interrelated tasks and activities.
