About the Role

This is a role for a visionary innovator with an entrepreneurial mindset, dedicated to building new strategic advantages that will shape the future of enterprise software. We are looking for a pioneer whose career has already demonstrated an ability to successfully lead groundbreaking initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading Strategic Initiatives: Drive the design strategy for Workday’s most complex, high-impact Growth and adjacent projects from concept to launch.

  • Influence at Scale: Expertly manage organizational and technical challenges, leveraging influence to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Delivering with Urgency: Lead teams in fast-paced, high-stakes environments, enabling swift and effective problem-solving.

  • Accountability for Impact: Be directly responsible for delivering tangible business outcomes, including increased adoption, revenue growth, and brand value.

  • Elevating the Organization: Set a new standard of design excellence through mentorship and by fostering an entrepreneurial, impact-driven culture across the entire design team.

About You

Distinguished Designers operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, focusing their efforts on aligning vision with opportunities to achieve maximum momentum, coherence, and impact. They expertly navigate organizational constraints—be they political, philosophical, or technical—to ensure their vision is realized. Their work culminates in projects that become new strategic advantages for Workday.

The effectiveness of a Distinguished Designer is evaluated by their ability to lead teams from conception to realization. Their impact is measured across two key dimensions: the scale of the undertaking and the level of innovation. They demonstrate scale through increased adoption, revenue, brand value, or Workday's investment in resources. These designers typically engage in challenging endeavors where rapid execution intensifies difficulty, guiding teams to quickly solve complex problems.

Distinguished Designers are characterized by their imagination, inventiveness, and ambition. Crucially, they are directly accountable and responsible for the investment Workday makes in their projects.
 

Basic Qualifications

  • 18+ years of professional experience in Product Design, UX Design, or a related field, with a demonstrated history of driving significant business impact.

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field.

Other Qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing for enterprise or B2B SaaS products.

  • A portfolio showcasing career-defining projects highlighting unparalleled mastery of the end-to-end design process for profoundly impactful products.

  • Proven experience in a singularly impactful leadership role, influencing and defining product and engineering strategy at the organizational level.

  • Deep and demonstrable expertise in growth-focused design, including A/B testing, user acquisition funnels, and retention strategies.

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools and the ability to execute at an infuriatingly high quality bar.

  • A strong understanding of technical feasibility and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted advisor to the most senior executives on matters of design, product, and business strategy.


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $248,600 USD - $373,000 USD


 

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $225,000 USD - $399,600 USD
