The employment consultant provides a variety of community-based employment services to individuals with disabilities seeking to become employed, advance within their current position, or reenter employment.
Primary Duties
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.
- Provide job exploration counseling by providing the career scope, (a standardized, timed interest and aptitude assessment for education and career guidance) and generate a report summarizing each assessment result.
- Build and maintain professional and productive relationships with participants, members of participants support network, and funding/referral sources providing ongoing communication, soliciting input, requesting satisfaction surveys and providing thorough documented reports.
- Develop relationships with current and potential employers resulting in knowledge of current employment, assessment, and training opportunities for participants.
- Maintain files according to policy and procedures to ensure consistent standards are met for regulatory entities.
- Develop, implement, and document individualized service plans for individuals to include skills training, pre-employment training, situational assessments, job development, job coaching, and long-term support for both competitive and supported employment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in marketing activities by submitting stories for social media and newsletters and creating materials.
- Participate in community activities and/or provider events coordinated by referral agencies.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Certification(s)
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, or related Human Services field plus a minimum of 2 years related experience with program development and training working with individuals with disabilities required.
- Valid driver’s license, per state law, and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.
- Detail-oriented and able to carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to develop service plans for individuals with a variety of disabilities and required accommodations.
- Must possess time management and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral/verbal communication skills.
