Position Summary
The Director Power Plants provides executive leadership and oversight for all personnel and functions related to assigned power generating stations/facility(s)/assets. Functional responsibilities include safety culture, environmental/regulatory compliance, plant operations, maintenance work management, engineering, financial, business administration, risk management, and program/project management. This employee collaborates with plant teams, executive leadership, and enterprise shared services groups to develop and implement plant specific Business Plans and strategies to deliver on organizational objectives. Uses industry best practices to ensure for effective plant operations that lead to achieving business objectives while maintaining compliance with all Environmental, Safety & Health, and regulatory requirements. The Director broadly engages with personnel across CPS Energy to both offer and seek assistance in attaining Power Generation and Corporate goals.

Tasks and Responsibilities
- Delivers Executive leadership and accountability.
- Develops and executes to established budgets (Capital, O&M, Human resources) and Business Plans for Generation Facilities including the effective use of monitoring, mitigation activities and reallocation of resources.
- Essential contributor to the formulation of Power Generation strategy, and central to the tactical implementation of designs to achieve the same.
- Directly responsible for managing several different power generation stations, with generation capacities ranging between 900 – 2,200 MW.
- Responsible for the direct and indirect supervision of both salaried and wage-scale personnel, ranging between 30-150 personnel across multiple generation sites to meet corporate and departmental objectives.
- Drives the effective development, and efficient performance of projects and station outages ensuring value propositions are in accordance with Power Generation strategy.
- Ensures effective asset management and resource utilization through condition-based maintenance, continuous improvement, and reliability best-practices.
- Provides leadership and support for Power Generation improvement programs and initiatives.
- Maintain a People First culture focused on engaging and developing employees to realize their full potential in support of CPS Energy mission to deliver reliable, cost-effective power in a safe, environmentally responsible manner to support the needs of our customers.
- Oversee and maintain compliance with CPS Energy Environmental, Health & Safety programs.
- Oversee and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements – NERC, ERCOT, TRE, EPA, TCEQ, etc. including EPA/TCEQ on-site inspections, EPA annual reporting, safe disposal of waste products including coal combustion by-products, etc.
- Consistent application of CPS Energy procedures and standards along with industry best practices in the operation and maintenance of the power generation assets that are owned and/or operated by CPS Energy.
- Effective, efficient allocation and deployment of internal and external resources to meet CPS Energy needs.
- Oversee and champion employee skill development to assure all employees are effectively trained and prepared to perform assigned duties and supporting duties in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive succession planning program for assigned teams.
- Power Generation training, including identification of employee training requirements, and delivery of training curriculum.
- Lake management / Water supply operations including plant water quality, monitoring, and compliance for all assets.
- Direct communication with teams to reinforce policy and business unit priorities, improve employee engagement and respond to issues affecting the work force, including effective union relationship.
- Effective use of plant and fleet metrics to define and trend desired performance and trigger proactive performance mitigation.
- Executive leadership and support for emergency action plans and business continuity plans for Power Generation across all power stations, including liaison with appropriate local emergency response authorities.
- Perform other assigned duties as required to support CPS Energy objectives.
