As a Mechanic with our Shop/Fleet team, you will be carrying out a variety of tasks to ensure city vehicles and equipment are well-kept and run without a hitch:
- Diagnosing and repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, and other mechanical systems quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime
- Performing preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet including such vehicles as police cruisers, pickup trucks, dump trucks, and loaders
- Transporting parts, tools, and City vehicles to and from various locations
- Keeping detailed records of maintenance and repairs
- Helping with snow removal and providing support to the other Public Works teams as needed
Qualifications and skills needed:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Working knowledge of gas and diesel engine repair and preventative maintenance
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and equipment, including a welder and cutting torch
- Strong work ethic, good attitude, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain regular and dependable attendance
This is a full-time position working Monday - Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (Labor Day to Memorial Day) and from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm (Memorial Day to Labor Day). We also have shop provided tools, so you don't have to bring your own to work.
