Position Summary:

The Loan Closing Coordinator will oversee the loan pipeline to ensure loan requests move through the queues in a timely and efficient matter.   Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, submitting documentation requests to Credit Union Service Organization, working directly with Credit Union attorneys to facilitate closings, and ensure all loan due diligence has been completed and properly reviewed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains order in the Business Lending section of the vault. This includes the review of the paid loan report, pulling files and reviewing documents for proper record retention.
  • Assist with loan payoff letters as needed including mailing payoffs after closing.
  • Follow up on any outstanding documents or files with attorneys and Loan Officers.
  • Prepares and files mortgage discharges.
  • Pulls statements at member request.
  • Assist loan officers and analysts with coordinating the disbursal of funds prior to loan closings. 
  • Facilitate loan closing with attorneys and Loan Officers, providing all necessary documentation for closing including the booking/funding of the loan. 
  • Follow up to make sure the appropriate hazard insurance, title insurance policies and all required documents are obtained, and all collateral is properly secured. Monitor the tickler/exceptions system for hazard insurance, rate changes, UCC filings, and loan maturities. 
  • Sets up tax service accounts with vendor and pulls appropriate reporting.
  • Log recorded documents and enter recording information in loan origination system and Credit Union core system. 
  • Provides general business lending assistance as needed. 
  • Assist with other clerical duties as needed to support the origination, processing, underwriting and closing of business loans. This may include assisting with inquiries about existing loans.
  • Monitor the Member Business Loan portfolio for delinquency and changes in status of accounts and report to the Business Loan Committee or Lending Manager. 
  • May provide support to Loan Servicing as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities continued:

  • Always represent the best interests of the Credit Union in words and actions.
  • Assist with Data collection for NCUA and Third-Party Audits.
  • Complete all required training by or before scheduled deadline date. 
  • This position is deemed an essential position and must follow the essential employee requirements. 
  • Perform Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of Credit Union Lending Policies and Procedures, as well as general knowledge of other departments.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of interest rates and dividends, how they are computed and disclosed, and can discuss this with the member.
  • Deep understanding of how a credit union functions, and the value it brings to its member’s and
  • community.   This includes understanding of what a Cooperative is, as that is the business models of all credit unions.
  • Employee must be able to communicate effectively (verbally & in writing) and generate grammatically correct written reports, letters, memorandums, etc.
  • Employee must possess professionalism, punctuality and neatness in appearance.
  • Employee must maintain a cooperative attitude with other employees and help to maintain the friendliest atmosphere possible in the credit union office.
  • Must strive to render the best possible service to all the membership.
  • Must keep current with basic knowledge of all credit union programs and must thoroughly cross- sell all credit union products at every available opportunity.
  • The ability to properly receive members, either by telephone or in person.
  • Employee will follow any instructions, and perform other related duties, as may be required by management.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to establish working relationships and interact effectively with a wide range of individuals, members and vendors.

Employees are required to maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive Cornerstone CFCU, member, employee, and proprietary information both during and after their employment. If an employee has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, they should consult with their Manager/Supervisor or Human Resources. Any violation of this rule may subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or G.E.D. required, minimum of Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of credit union experience, banking experience, or experience in a closely related field.
  • Preferred experience with business or consumer lending.
  • Must obtain NMLS #.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Bondable upon initial employment and continue to be bondable throughout term of employment.

 

Physical Requirements:

The functions of the position usually performed sitting but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, typewriter, calculator, cutting, labeling and taping involve extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.
