Title: Consumer Lending Assistant
Department: Retail Sales
Reports To: Vice President of Consumer Sales

Location: Jackson, MS or Memphis, TN
 

The Lending Assistant provides direct support to the Consumer Loan Officers (CLOs) by managing member communications, coordinating documentation, and ensuring the smooth flow of the loan process from application through post-closing. This role serves as the primary point of contact for members to answer questions, guide them through the process, and request required documentation. The Lending Assistant will also liaise with internal departments regarding referrals, review loan packages for completeness, assist with file organization, and maintain accurate records through scanning and uploading into the internal file storage system. This position plays a key role in delivering an excellent member experience and supporting CLO productivity.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact, guiding members through the loan process, answering questions, providing status updates, and explaining requirements.
  • Follow up with members to request additional documentation and ensure timely submission.
  • Send internal communications to CLOs and relevant departments regarding referrals received.
  • Organize, scan, and index loan files to ensure accurate post-closing documentation.
  • Review loan packages for completeness prior to processing or closing.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, projects, and other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with lending policies, regulations, and internal procedures.

Qualifications:

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in banking, financial services, or customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-first approach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn banking systems.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience with consumer lending or loan processing systems.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending products, credit analysis, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or English/other) a plus.

Work Environment:

  • This position is based in an office setting with the possibility of some hybrid workdays based on performance, business needs, and manager approval. The role requires regular use of a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment in a professional environment. Most members and internal interactions will take place virtually, making it essential to be proficient in digital communication and file handling.
