RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supervises plant engineering and other technical staff assigned to the Dold facility.
- Manages the installation and care of plant physical assets (building and equipment) so that the lifetime value of the Company's investment in these assets is optimized.
- Manages the technical and professional development of all assigned staff. Working in conjunction with Corporate Engineering, the Manager of Plant Engineering participates in the recruitment, selection, coaching, appraisal, and development of engineering and maintenance personnel.
- Utilizes the Company's Enterprise Asset Management System (Infor EAM) and supports its use as a key management information tool.
- Prepares budgets and implementation plans for maintenance, repair, capital, and reliability improvement expenditures (including the identification and management of necessary outside resources as appropriate). The Manager of Plant Engineering is accountable for adherence to various expense and capital budgets as assigned.
- Works closely with all plant management and other plant personnel to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, statutes, codes, and regulations as well as internal Company policies.
- Directs the operation and maintenance of all plant utilities systems, leads plant energy management efforts, directs the PSM plan and supports Sustainability initiatives for the facility.
- Directs the efficient operation and utilization of the Plant MRO Storeroom.
- Provides engineering input and oversight of plant / facility protection programs including regular inspection of buildings, fire protection systems, and security equipment.
- Effectively manages and controls costs associated with the use of outside contractors. Adheres to contractor compliance with security, food safety and people safety policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Minimum five years' experience in maintenance or engineering management roles to include Plant Engineering Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, or Maintenance Manager of 150,000+ sq. ft. facility or similar.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical field or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Successful completion of one week ammonia refrigeration training with RETA certification or similar certification.
- A strong pattern of initiative.
- Highly developed leadership and teamwork skills.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to prioritize and balance many tasks simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of basic computer applications with the ability to master EAMS software.
- Previously obtained CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional) or ability to achieve certification in 18 months or less.
- Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States

A comprehensive relocation package to the Wichita, KS area will be offered, if required.
At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for the Manager of Plant Engineering role is between $120,000 - $168,000 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
