POSITION SUMMARY
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items and equipment by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Files all necessary shipping documents.
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Proper operation of equipment to safety and productivity requirements, i.e., forklift and/or hand truck operation to convey, move or hoist materials to load and unload truck and move equipment and supplies to proper departments or areas.
Unpacks, examines, and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Maintain dock areas and warehouses, in house and off site.
Maintains a safe work area and ensures compliance with OSHA rules and regulations. Ensures required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) is in good condition and accessible for the task at hand, including glasses, gloves, shoes and other safety devices, lock out as required.
Provides guidance and assistance to trucks when arrival to shipping and receiving dock, chocking wheels, height and weight variations, etc.
Prep and package forklifts and material handling equipment for shipping.
Pick up and deliver supplies as necessary.
Maintain Shipping and Receiving calendars.
