Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to join our team in support of ongoing research projects. The successful candidate will perform immunological (e.g., ELISA, Western blot) and virological (e.g., neutralization, infection) assays, as well as molecular biology techniques including cloning. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific communication while contributing to impactful research. This is a part-time position.
Responsibilities:
- Perform immunological and virological assays, including ELISA, Western blot, and viral neutralization.
- Conduct molecular biology techniques such as cloning and plasmid preparation.
- Assist with the daily upkeep of the laboratory, including reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data; prepare figures and present results at team meetings.
- Review and summarize relevant scientific literature to support ongoing research efforts.
- Contribute to the drafting of methods and materials for manuscripts, reports, and presentations.
- Learn and apply principles of experimental design; take ownership of project components under supervision.
- Work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic research team; adapt to shifting project priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in immunology, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field, required; or an Associates of Arts degree with up to one year of related work experience required. .
- Previous laboratory experience in immunological, virological, or molecular biology techniques preferred.
- Basic knowledge of immunology, virology, biochemistry, and chemistry required.
- Familiarity with laboratory best practices, data management, and record-keeping.

- Strictly adheres to all documented JCVI policies and procedures to include carrying out all functions required of Institute employees (i.e. completion of timesheets and effort surveys in an accurate and timely manner).
