Core Room Supervisor en FerroWorks

The newly created Company, FerroWorks, has locations in Pittsburgh, McKees Rocks, and Kutztown, PA including McConway and Torley and Standard Forged, which have been in continuous operations since 1869, the same year the first US transcontinental railroad was completed. As McConway is the original designers of the first standard automatic coupler, continued innovation and craftsmanship have and has led to a product line that includes every ARR approved coupler as well as custom coupler solutions, which are all proudly cast in the US.

McConway and Torley is hiring for a Core Room Supervisor. In this position you will manage the day to day activities of the Core Room, including inventory and equipment. You will lead a team to ensure the group is always working effectively and efficiently. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Hiring, training, and coaching mold assemblers and other core room team members
• Ensuring compliance with all safety and quality requirements
• Inspect and verify work done on patterns and core boxes to ensure tooling is correct
• Ability to read and interpret foundry schedule to plan day to day operations for both pattern and core box work
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to fabricate gating and layout patterns
• Ability to create tooling sheets with engineering direction to ensure proper pattern identification and assembly
• Collaborate with design and engineering to improve existing tooling
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste
• Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of critical supplies for both pattern and core box maintenance
• Develop and maintain a schedule of routine scanning and analysis of production tooling using FARO Laser Scanner and Polyworks Inspector software

Shift: 3rd Shift

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years in tooling maintenance or related manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven leadership skills and experience managing a production team
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes of pattern and core boxes
• Ability to understand and utilize computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot
• Strong communication skills

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED is required
• Associates Degree or applicable related work experience

Working Conditions:

• Work environment includes plant, warehouse, production and non-production areas and plant grounds.
• This position may require work/maintenance coverage beyond the normal hours, shift, and on weekends/holidays
• Ability to tolerate both high and low temperatures, loud noises typical of a manufacturing plant
