Position Purpose

The Video Editor is a full-time hybrid position, based in the New York City area, reporting to the Senior Video Producer, Post Production. As part of the Digital Learning Video Team, you will support the development of a suite of online courses that are being offered at BrandEd.

BrandEd is the holding company which houses Vogue College of Fashion, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, The School of The New York Times, and the Manchester City Sports Business School. Our strategy is to partner with the world’s most iconic and premier brands to create innovative, compelling, experiential academic programs ranging from Pre-College to master’s degree, with locations in NY and London, and partnerships around the world.

As a Video Editor, you will help execute editing for courses at BrandEd, help set the aesthetic for video content, and ensure the final videos match the educational needs and brand guidelines set forth for the project. You will work closely with the rest of the Video Team to ensure that all videos are produced on time and meet the educational objectives for the project. Video Editor must be a highly organized, detail-oriented, innovative, and creative storyteller.

Though video editing will be your primary responsibility, the Video Editor will also be responsible for serving a support role on small-scale shoots and occasionally oversee livestreams in collaboration with other members of the Video Team. These roles include (but are not limited to): videographer, sound recordist, gaffer, grip, and production assistant. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Edit videos for BrandEd in a professional and timely manner, communicating bandwidth and ensuring on-time delivery, while incorporating feedback and staying within brand guidelines. 
  • Ingest and organize all assets, adhering to file structure, naming conventions, and 
  • Assist with on-set, in-person filming as DIT and general production assistant
  • Conduct livestreams for commencements and special events.
  • Collaborate with any external vendors as needed, such as supporting editors, videographers, animators, or consultants.
  • Must be detailed-oriented

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include the above, but you will also be expected to perform all the duties necessary that are customarily performed by a person holding this position. Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Fluency in Adobe Premiere and After Effects required
  • Must have working knowledge of compositing, motion graphics, and animation
  • Knowledge of audio editing and basic sound mixing and design
  • Experience with on-set data wrangling (DIT)
  • Adept with modern digital video camera systems (Blackmagic, Sony, Canon, etc.)
  • Familiarity in project management software (Monday, Asana, Shotgrid, etc.)
  • Support, as needed, on small-scale shoots and livestreams
  • Excellent verbal, written and digital communication skills in English

 

 

Education, Work Experience and/or Licensure

  • 4+ years professional experience in post-production
  • Must have Portfolio, reel, or examples of work
