Job Appointment:  This is a casual Community Service Aide III position limited to maximum of 1,400 hours worked in a calendar year. 
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri. 8-5, alternate schedule may be available after hire.
Work Location: Hybrid: The Portland Building 1120 SW 5th Avenue, Portland OR 97204

Position Summary: 
As a Community Service Aide III in the Utility Management, Inspection and Compliance Division, you will be helping to support the Utility Permitting team in data management in a new software solution. This position focuses on ensuring accurate information is entered, maintained, and mapped to support inspections, permitting, and compliance activities. This is a casual position with flexible hours, working 20-40 hours per week and is limited to 1400 hours per calendar year.

  • Support the Utility Management, Inspection, and Compliance Division by performing data entry, maintainingaccurate databases, and ensuring information is current and reliable.

  • Assist with mapping to support inspections, permitting, and compliance activities.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks, exercising good judgment and attention to detail.
  • Support the stabilization of a new system, including data management.
  • Collaborate with team members and partners to ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing solutions to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and workflow.

Position Duties

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

  1. Have the ability to perform data entry, data management, or recordkeeping.

  2. Have the ability to demonstrate project management skills.

  3. The ability to work independently and problem-solve within established procedures and guidelines.

  4. The ability to organize and manage large quantities of data with attention to detail.


Minimum Qualifications

Step 2: Minimum Qualification Evaluation: 
Week of September 29, 2025
  • An evaluation of each applicant's training and paid and unpaid experience, as demonstrated in their resume and supplemental questions, weighted 100%.
  • Your résumé and responses to the supplemental questions will be the basis for our evaluation of your qualifications for this position. Incomplete or inappropriate information may result in disqualification.
Step 3: Establishment of Eligible List: Week of October 6, 2025
  • Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be placed on the equally ranked eligible list.
Step 4: Selection (Interview): Mid - October
  • Hiring bureau will review and select candidates for an interview.
  • Please note, the selection process may take up to 90 days from the notification of being placed on the eligible list.
Step 5: Offer of Employment: End of October

Step 6: Start Date: 
Beginning of November 
  • A start date will be determined after all conditions of employment have been met.
