Job Summary:
Under the direction of the School Principal, the Administrative Assistant to the Principal for Torrington Intermediate School (grade 4-6) contributes to the efficient operation of the school through administrative support to the Principal. Contributes to the supervision of office staff.
Essential Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
- Provides administrative support to the Principal.
- Provides office management support in the school.
- Plans, assigns and reviews office work as required by the Principal.
- Contributes to the supervision of office staff at the school level.
- Works with minimal direct supervision of the Principal, exercising initiative and judgment to resolve problems within scope of authority.
- Creates reports, manages data and engages in research at the direction of the Principal.
- Answers telephone, maintains voicemail messages, manages e-mail and all correspondence to and from the Principal.
- Assists in the budget process and development of the building budget.
- Monitors budget expenditures and provides financial reports to the Principal.
- Manages the Principal's calendar (meetings, events, activities).
- Transmits and explains the Principal's directives to staff and follows up as needed.
- Coordinates and maintains the PPT calendar.
- Performs other duties as appropriate and required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, Associates’ Degree or higher preferred.
- Five years experience in office management and leadership.
- Knowledge of school regulations, practices, procedures and office management.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, assign, review and supervise office work.
- Demonstrated ability to compose clear and correct communications.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships with associates.
- Demonstrated ability to create reports and presentations using current software and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to complete complex projects on time.
Terms of Employment: 12-month work year, 40 hours per week
