Job Description: School Technology Support Specialist (K-8)
Location: Carolina Charter Academy
Reports to: Lead Administrator/Principal


Position Summary: The School Technology Support Specialist (or IT) will provide on site technical support
for staff and students, ensuring that all technology systems operate smoothly to support instruction, learning,
and school operations, and is the first point of contact for technology issues, manage school wide technology
resources, and serve as the liaison between the school, Systel, A3, Vision 21, and the North Carolina
Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI), and other IT and technology vendors and support/service teams.

 

Primary Responsibilities


Technical Support & Troubleshooting


? Respond daily to staff and student technology requests (via email, chat, or in-person).
? Diagnose and resolve issues with:
? Printers/copiers (including teacher copy codes, device connections, and troubleshooting).
? Smart TVs, document cameras, and other classroom technology.Staff laptops (software
updates, repairs, replacements, configurations).
? Student Chromebooks (repairs, replacements, inventory tracking, charger management).
? iPads (managing Apple School, installing apps, performing updates, charger inventory).
? Other technology and IT needs
? Ensure all devices are functioning properly during instruction and testing periods.
? Participate as the tech liaison for the school during educational program meetings such as Branching
Minds (this will change every year as a new platform is rolled out and the tech person attends every
meeting)
? Assist with Infinite Campus to staff, students and parents, respond to troubleshooting issues daily.
? Attended data manager, teacher, nurse and counselor offsite and virtual PD to ensure staff receives the
best training possible
? Spearhead project and mass school wide implementations such as infinite campus. Participate in
weekly trainings, meetings to implement new SIS into the school, provide training for all CCA staff on
new SIS
? Support with data integration and management as directed by the Lead Administrator.
Training & Support for Staff
? Provide ongoing training for staff in:
? Technology troubleshooting basics.
? Cybersecurity practices (phishing prevention, backups, etc.).
? Proper use of instructional technology tools.
? Hold weekly “office hours” for staff to meet and receive additional help, support, or training.

 

Inventory & Device Management


? Maintain accurate inventory of all staff and student devices through CCA’s barcode system.
? Track, repair, and replace devices as needed, ensuring classrooms remain equipped with functioning
technology.
? Conduct quarterly checkouts of classroom Chromebook carts.
? Oversee chargers and replacement needs for Chromebooks and iPads.
? Work with Finance and Lead Administrator with regards to technology inventory and budgetary
items/needs.


Software & Systems


? Manage GoGuardian and SmartPass accounts and troubleshoot issues for teachers.
? Manage G-Suite.
? Manage Zoom or other applications for Board virtual meetings, including support with Board On Track.
? Maintain MAP and state testing readiness by ensuring devices are compatible and equipped with
required applications.
? Copier pin creation and management with each IP address.
? Implementation of A3 camera software.


Communication & Coordination


? Serve as the main point of contact with all technology vendors.
? Collaborate with NCDPI Technology Contact:
? Sends updated emails on training, required technology documents, DLMI survey, and annual
technology inventory.
? Submit DPI surveys and inventories, including:
¦ Digital Learning and Media Inventory (DLMI) Survey
? completed annually with parent input
? Parent form is created/generated and sent out for feedback in the spring
¦ Technology Inventory
? compiled and submitted thoroughly each June.

 

Website and Online Portal Maintenance


? Manage website and domain
? Update website as needed and requested by Lead Administrator


Safety and Security


? Consistently monitor CCA digital safety and security to protect information leaks.
? Review best practices with staff at the direction of the Lead Administrator.
? Provide support and guidance to ensure compliance with HB959

 

Qualifications

 

? Associates degree or higher in information technology in a related field.
? Experience with school-based technology systems (Chromebooks, Windows laptops, iPads, Smart
TVs, printers/copiers).
? Knowledge of educational software platforms (GoGuardian, NCDPI assessment software/apps, Apple
School Manager, SmartPass).
? Strong organizational skills for inventory management.
? The ability to effectively articulate the needs of the school to the Lead Administrator.
? Effective communication skills for supporting staff and liaising with external partners.
? Ability to prioritize urgent needs while maintaining long-term projects.
? The ability to work with both staff and students in a professional, friendly manner.
? The ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders and uphold the mission and vision of CCA to
maintain positive relationships.
? Preferred not required:
? Experience in a public-charter setting
? Background in instructional technology
? Experience with Infinite Campus

 

Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
