As a Kennel Assistant, you will play an essential role in upholding our high standards of care and ensuring that every animal receives the personalized attention and nurturing they deserve.

Position Details:
  • Location: Walton Gwinnett Animal Clinic,  4695 Atlanta Hwy, Loganville, GA 30052
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Pay Range: $13-$15 per hour, depending on experience
  • Schedule: Hospital Hours: M-F 7:30a - 5:30p, Saturday's 8A - 12p, Sunday's closed  (as a kennel assistant you will be responsible for weekend and evening shifts to help care for pets in the boarding facility. You will be scheduled to work outside of regular office hours

Some of the responsibilities you will own in this role:

As a Kennel Assistant at Walton Gwinnett Animal Clinic, you’ll play a key role in the daily care and comfort of our patients and boarders. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Daily Animal Care: Provide essential care to our patients and boarders, including feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring their overall well-being.
  • Patient Handling & Restraint: Assist the veterinary staff with handling and safely restraining animals during exams or treatments, ensuring the safety of both the animal and the staff.
  • Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in the animals’ health, behavior, or appetite. Be proactive in identifying potential issues and bring them to the attention of the veterinary team.
  • Facility Cleanliness & Organization: Maintain a clean and organized kennel environment by regularly cleaning and sanitizing animal living spaces, ensuring a safe and hygienic area for both pets and staff.
  • Medication Administration: Follow care protocols, including feeding schedules, medication administration, and special care instructions, ensuring that every pet receives the attention they need.
  • Supportive Teamwork: Work closely with the veterinary team, providing support during patient examinations and treatments. Your role ensures that the veterinary staff can focus on medical procedures while knowing the pets are receiving high-quality care.
  • Customer Service: Engage with pet owners, providing them with updates on their pets and answering any questions they may have about their pets' care during their stay.

What You'll Bring:

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about animal care and have the following qualifications:
  • A love for animals: Passionate about working with animals and providing compassionate care that promotes their well-being.
  • Animal Handling Skills: Ability to safely handle and lift animals of varying sizes and temperaments. Comfort in working with a range of animals, from dogs and cats to exotic or more challenging species.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols for feeding, medications, and special care instructions.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in animal care or a veterinary setting is preferred but not required. Training will be provided to help you succeed in this role.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. Experience or coursework in animal care or veterinary technology is a plus.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift animals, and perform physically demanding tasks as part of your daily routine.
  • Team Player: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a dedicated, compassionate team.
