Primary Purpose:

Build capacity in educators’ abilities to implement quality behavioral instructional supports to optimize learning and ensure success for all learners. This position is Title I funded.

 

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university
  • Master’s Degree in Education (preferred)
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong knowledge in the use of research based behavioral and coaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher trainer/mentor.
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject areas.
  • In-depth knowledge of techniques to successfully complete and support implementation of an effective Behavior Intervention Plan
  • Knowledge of, and ability to serve as a coach for a variety of strategies and methodologies, including technology, applied in educational settings 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion; work within a changing and demanding environment; make effective decisions and take independent action; prioritize workload and conflicting demands; demonstrate organizational and time management skills; establish and maintain working relationships with staff and parents; work for irregular/prolonged hours; meet schedules and deadlines; read/interpret/apply rules, regulations, policies; physical demands include lifting, reaching, handling, talking, hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position. 

 

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of teaching experience.
  • Experience teaching diverse student populations.
  • Experience in training and mentoring/coaching adults.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide in-classroom coaching and professional staff development.
  • Encourage and support the implementation of research-based intervention and provision of on-going staff development to improve effectiveness
  • Provide job embedded professional development for staff through modeling engaging standards-based teaching as needed.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between all stakeholders to improve alignment of instruction and increase student success.
  • Serve as a specialist in the development and implementation of campus instructional plans that align to district goals and curriculum.
  • Work closely with teachers in all areas of classroom instruction including curriculum alignment and implementation, lesson design, classroom management, selection and implementation of instructional materials, student work and data analysis
  • Serve as a resource to campus administrators in determining professional development needs.
  • Prepare and submits reports as required.
  • Participate in planning and presenting staff development as determined by campus and district needs.
  • Work with/and facilitates adult learners.
  • Research, review, and recommend instructional materials.
  • Maintain Time and Effort documentation required of federal programs.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).

Personal or laptop computer, printer, copier, fax machine, shredder, calculator, telephone, electronic mobile devices, projector, video display monitor

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. 

 

Regularly sit, talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequent repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; occasionally lift and/or move up to 10-50 pounds; occasionally required to stand, walk reach with hands and arms; vision abilities include close vision; and color vision, regularly work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress; the noise level is usually moderate. The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail. The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Predictable and regular attendance expected.
