This position reports to theFinancial Aid Veterans' Coordinator and State Grants Coordinator and willassist with compliance and quality controls for all state grant and militarybenefit programs. Additionally, thisposition will support managing and processing aid/benefits under theseprograms, provide customer service by speaking with students and parents on thephone and in-person, and review documents that are part of completing the financialaid process. Track and analyze regulatory changes affecting Illinois state grant programs and military education benefits, and implement necessary updates to ensure institutional compliance and strategic alignment.
Conduct regular, comprehensive internal audits in coordination with the Financial Aid Veterans and State Grants Coordinator to evaluate compliance with institutional policies and external regulations, and to detect, document, and address error trends.
Assist with compiling reports and documentation for Federal and State agency audits, and provide support in preparing responses to audit inquiries.
Serve as a secondary school certifying official for federal veterans’ programs, ensuring accurate and timely certification of federal benefits and awarding of state military grant programs.
Provide annual information sessions to educate and inform students about all ISAC programs, ensuring they understand available opportunities and eligibility requirements.
Maintain and regularly update website content to provide students with clear, accurate, and current information on ISAC programs and military education benefits.
Monitor the processing and disbursement of assigned aid and benefit programs to ensure awards are accurate and timely, and review any awards that fail to disburse to determine eligibility or resolve conditions preventing disbursement.
Perform monthly and end-of-term/fiscal year reconciliations to ensure amounts disbursed in Banner align with federal and state government approvals for disbursement.
Run and modify reports as needed to support program management, review student and parent documents to determine eligibility, and assist in updating the financial aid policy and procedures handbook. Stay current with state and federal regulations to ensure accurate and compliant administration of aid and benefit programs.
Advise students and families on financial aid and benefit processes, including opportunities, rights, and responsibilities. Provide guidance with applications, respond to inquiries, and deliver
presentations or information sessions for current and prospectivestudents as requested.
Support recruitment, admission, enrollment, and retention activities through financial aid services. Maintain office hours at additional campuses as required, and participate in workshops and seminars to strengthen knowledge and professional practice.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related field required.
Minimum of two years of related professional experience, preferably in program management and/or customer service.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Experience with student information systems (e.g., Banner), preferred but not required.
Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work closely and confidentially with students.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Ability to travel between and provide support across multiple campus locations.
