POSITION SUMMARY
The School- Based Health Center (SBHC) Department partners with three school districts to provide comprehensive health services across seven SBHCs. The SBHCs reduce health inequities by focusing on prevention and youth empowerment. NAHC is looking for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker that will work closely with youth clients and families, behavioral health, medical, and other health care staff; and other agencies to meet clients’ multiple clinical and non-clinical health needs.

Responsibilities include supporting school-based health center behavioral health clinicians by providing clinical supervision of licensed and non-licensed behavioral health staff and trainees in accordance with NAHC and professional standards. This position is active in developing, supporting, and implementing the wrap-around philosophy with its individualized, strengths-based, culturally-competent, and family-centered approach. This position will also provide department wide with clinical intakes, assessments, medical department consultation, and crisis services.

The Native American Health Center is an accredited institution and adheres to the standards of excellence by the Accreditation of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Supervision & Program Support

1. Provide clinical support/clinical supervision needs for BH staff and ASW interns, including providing weekly individual and/or group face-to-face clinical supervision and clinical consultation as needed.
2. Provide expedient review, feedback, and completion of relevant / assigned supervisees’ clinical documentation. Services of supervisees may occur at
NAHC, in the community, or in a school setting.
3. Participate in and perform regular chart reviews.
4. Oversee timecards, Human Resource requirements, and work collaboratively with SBHC leadership and staff team to complete annual evaluations for direct reports.
5. Resolve staffing issues and facilitate conflict resolution for staff under direct supervision. Hire, discipline, evaluate and terminate staff in coordination with the Human Resources department.
6. Foster a team environment to effectively lead and retain your staff. Provide opportunities for staff to grow and develop new skills.
7. Serve as liaison between NAHC School-Based Health Department and NAHC Community Behavioral Health Department to provide integration and workflow alignment where appropriate.
8. Serve as a liaison between Graduate Schools of Social Work Internship Programs and NAHC’s School-Based Health Department.
9. Provide project support for youth trauma-informed services projects and grants, such as implementation reporting, sustainability planning, evaluation support, and training/webinar planning & participation.
10. Coordinate and network with other agencies on clinical services, activities, and trainings.
11. Quality Improvement: Work collaboratively with SBHC Director and serve as lead on BH related quality assurance and improvement teams (QA/QI) and work with members proactively to drive quality improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations and accreditation standards.
12. Ensure meaningful participation by family, youth, and community members in prevention and evaluation processes via design, interpretation, and dissemination of findings in the context of clinical work or otherwise as indicated.
13. Engage in youth-oriented initiatives as needed to advance program development and expansion.

Clinical Duties
1. Provide culturally proficient, treatment plan driven, behavioral health therapy for clients and their families. Clients will include children, adolescents, adults, and families who have been exposed to trauma and present with a wide range of behavioral health issues, and services may be performed on or off-site.
2. Conduct behavioral health intakes and assessments in accordance with professional expectations, including biopsychosocial, cultural, diagnostic, and crisis/risk evaluations for the full spectrum of psychological conditions. Includes scheduled appointments, “warm handoffs,” and walk-in services.
3. Provide case management and service linkages, including facilitating urgent or emergency service referrals to medical/psychiatric staff/agencies, mobile crisis services, and the police.
4. Work collaboratively with program staff on member scheduling; eligibility screening, receiving member informed consent; facilitating behavioral health screens, risk assessments, safety plans; and making referrals as appropriate.
5. Create, review and update individualized treatment plans for individuals served that are client driven, strengths-based, informed by recognized best practices, modified based on clinical need and client priority, and supportive of the integrated health team’s plan of care.
6. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with Nurse Practitioner, Program Manager, school faculty and on-site community partners to exchange referrals, provide integrated health care and provide clinical consultation/liaison services and education for staff, projects, and departments.
7. Participate in required administrative, clinical, and educational/training meetings including clinical case assignment conferences, rounds, team huddles, site coordination of services team meetings (COST) and supervision meetings.
8. Document and track service activities in electronic health record systems and other data management systems as required in a thorough, accurate, secure, and submit within 72 hours of service delivery, in accordance with agency policy and procedure. Support all evaluation and data reporting requirements.
9. Ensure maximal quality of services and compliance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal and state laws and regulations, agency policy and procedure, accreditation standards, applicable professional standards, and supervisor/team expectation and/or assigned duties. This includes maintaining current professional knowledge and skill.
General Duties
1. Member Care: Demonstrate understanding and apply working knowledge of safety policies and ensuring safe member practices.
2. Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches.
3. Safety: Responsible for ensuring that all duties, responsibilities and operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved, including themselves.
4. Safety: Take appropriate corrective actions to address matters pertaining to employee health and safety that have been brought to their attention.
5. Works extremely well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines.
6. At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and the community.
7. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Social Work.
2. Current unrestricted clinical social work license in California in good standing.
3. At least two years of post-licensure health care experience.
4. Thorough knowledge of culturally sensitive therapeutic principles and practices in social work and behavioral health treatment, including case management, individual and group counseling techniques, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad spectrum of mental illness.
5. Experience working with youth and families; Training in youth- and trauma-focused evidence-based practices (e.g., TF-CBT, CBITS, ITCT-A, motivational interviewing) (preferred, not required).
6. Knowledge about system of care and wraparound philosophies and practice, community-based services and supports with an orientation to family-driven, youth-guided and culturally relevant systems and services.
7. Experience providing clinical supervision under Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements to unlicensed clinical staff or trainees (MFT trainees, MFTIs, MSWs, ASWs, credentialed AOD specialists, etc.).
8. Must be able to work calmly and effectively with people in crisis and distress, of diverse cultural backgrounds, with children and families, and with vulnerable patient populations with a wide range of needs and presentations.
9. Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
10. Must meet standards of character under PL 101-630, section 408, Character Investigation, subsection (a) and PL 101-647, section 231, Requirement for Background Check, subsection (c), and agree that employer can contact the last two employers, the sex abuse detective division of local law enforcement and Child Protective Services of the last two counties in which the person has lived or worked to inquire as to the suitability of the person to work with children.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Specialized training and experience in the principals of integrating behavioral health assessment and treatment with primary care services.
2. Experience working with Native Americans or people from culturally diverse backgrounds. Sensitivity to the Native American community and various tribal backgrounds. Commitment to the Native American Health Center’s values and mission. Familiarity with the San Francisco Bay Area American Indian Community and Native-serving organizations.
3. Previous experience with health records systems and informed consent processes.
4. Knowledge of Case Management, Managed Care, Medicare, Medi-Cal, Senior, Commercial and HMO insurance regulations.
