Build your future with us
Our Small Business unit is currently seeking underwriters to write new small business accounts, manage a renewal book, and contribute to growth and profitability. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio. Training for the role will begin in September 2025.
Be ready to:
- manage a book of business comprised of new business submissions and renewal policies in coordination with multiple associate underwriters
- make decisions on new business opportunities, including terms, conditions, and pricing as necessary
- collaborate with associates from other departments to provide exemplary service to agencies
- understand and apply market conditions, state plans, and small business appetite to decisions
- achieve service expectations and exceed agency expectations
- balance performance goals with profit and growth objectives
- mentor associate underwriters through collaboration on applicable renewal and endorsement underwriting
- handle special projects and assignments as directed
Be equipped with:
- excellent communication skills and ability to build strong relationships
- strong time management and decision-making skills
- ability to learn and understand new technology
- ability to analyze risks at individual strategic level
- work efficiently while following limits of authority and complying with audit criteria
- ability to seek out creative solutions

Bring education and experience from:
- a bachelor’s degree OR two or more years of relevant insurance related work experience
- have earned an associate in insurance (AINS) designation
