GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, teaching, counseling, or social work required.
Experience: Prior experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Health-related professions
- Secondary and/or post-secondary instruction
- Student success centers or workforce development programs
Skills: Demonstrated excellence in communication, interpersonal relationships, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Knowledge: Familiarity with available student support resources, both within the college and the broader community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Meet promptly with students referred by program directors or instructors to assess needs, challenges, and issues. Provide individualized coaching to Health Science students to promote academic success, personal growth, and professional readiness. Assist students in developing success plans, setting goals, and identifying strategies to overcome barriers to progression and completion. Provide tutoring sessions or make appropriate referrals for areas such as, but not limited to, basic math skills, medication calculations, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Connect students with tutoring, counseling, financial aid, and other support services as appropriate. Monitor at-risk students (Drop-out detective) and provide targeted interventions to support continued enrollment and program success. Develop and facilitate workshops, group sessions, and seminars on study skills, time management, test-taking strategies, learning styles, interview preparation, and employability skills. Participate in Health Sciences program orientations and call-in sessions to support smooth student transitions. Partner with faculty, staff, and administrators to support student achievement and foster a culture of success. Serve as a liaison between students and Health Sciences programs to ensure concerns and needs are addressed promptly and professionally. Serve on NAHC and college committees as assigned. Collect, analyze, and report data on the number of students served, student outcomes, and other success metrics. Share findings with the Dean of Health Sciences, Dean of Nursing, and other stakeholders to guide program improvements and decision-making. Maintain confidentiality of student information in compliance with FERPA and institutional policies. Model professionalism, accountability, and ethical behavior in all interactions with students, faculty, and colleagues.
