Job Summary
Job Description
Typical Duties include but are not limited to:
- Partners with and serves as the main point of contact for managers and staff to address a variety of workplace issues in support of human resources strategic goals.
- Provides guidance and assistance to assigned units regarding human resources policies and procedures.
- Provides guidance to hiring managers through all stages of the hiring cycle, including posting, advertisement, conducting interviews, and onboarding.
- Reviews federal and state laws, and university regulations to ensure the University’s human resources programs are effective and consistent with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinates and evaluates a broad range of human resources functions such as recruitment, talent management, benefits, compensation, compliance, training, and employee relations.
- Works collaboratively with administrators in the development, implementation, documentation, and enforcement of policies and procedures.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement that enable human resources to achieve its strategic goals.
- Plans and coordinates events, seminars, presentations, and workshops that support human resources strategic goals.
- Assists departments in understanding and implementing changes to university-wide HR initiatives, supports change management initiatives through communication, training, and follow-up.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- This position requires either four years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
- Experience in Human Resources or related field.
- Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four years professional full-time experience in Human Resources as a Generalist or HR Business Partner.
- Human Resources experience in a higher education setting.
- Experience with Workday HCM and Recruiting.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM-CP).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, and best practices related to employment and human resources.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
- Skill in talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Skill in active learning by understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision making.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the general public in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems before they occur.
- Ability to develop and deliver training presentations and programs.
- Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work when numerous and competing demands are involved.
- Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
