About the Department
Performs journey level work in the maintenance, repair and alterations to HVAC systems; including cooling and heating systems, cooling towers, pumps, fans, filters and other mechanical equipment.
Position Duties
- Installs, repairs and maintains ventilation systems, air compressors and air conditioning equipment.
- Performs charging, evacuating, condenser cleaning and filter changing.
- Performs maintenance work on boiler refractories, boiler blowers; adjusts burners, high and low water cut-out controls.
- Replaces pump couplings, motor bearings, belt-sheaves and belts
- Programs and monitors the computerized energy system which includes heating/air conditioning systems.
- Inspects HVAC systems to identify maintenance repairs.
- Recommends options for replacing, repairing or adding to HVAC equipment or systems.
- Maintains proper water treatment by means of chemicals.
- Maintains maintenance records and logs for State and EPA requirements.
- Estimates time and materials for projects and keeps records of cost involved.
- Removes ice and snow from all County property.
- Subject to call back in emergencies.
- Subject to on-call rotations.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of four (4) years of commercial experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, troubleshooting of controls and other repair work as it relates to general building maintenance required.
LICENSES and/or CERTIFICATES:
- A Universal Refrigeration Recovery Certification with EPA is required.
- Valid driver’s license at the time of application and a valid Colorado driver’s license at time of hire required.

Must successfully pass background check.
