Job Summary:

The Field Safety Supervisor will assist with ensuring everyone in the company complies with health and safety laws and will establish policies that create and maintain a safe work environment.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Coach the Field Safety Coordinators when they are inspecting the refinery to identify safety, health, and environmental risks
  • Assist in revising health and safety procedures for the Central Valley Renewable Fuels facility
  • Participate as needed in regulatory audits regarding Health and Safety and escort any/all agency representatives
  •  
  • Discuss updates to emergency procedures while in the field or on location at main buildings/control rooms/operations offices
  • Monitor compliance with safety procedures and report non-compliance to the Health, Safety, and Security Manager
  • Perform regulatory required field audits of programs including, but not limited to: Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, SafeWork/HotWork permits, etc.
  • Track all safety equipment, such as personal 4-gas monitors, fall protection, SCBAs, Lockout/Tagout kits and ensure that all supplied air and portable shower/eyewash trailers are inspected monthly (unless service is required due to use)
  • Spend 50% of their time in the field, and 50% of their time in the office
  • Work on-call schedule rotation with the field coordinators
  • Be available for shift work during plant turnarounds
  • Stand in for the Health and Safety Manager when they are offsite
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Abilities/Certifications: 

  • Extensive knowledge of California and Federal OSHA standards
  •  
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used to perform the duties above
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to train others on and execute proper incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or higher certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required or at least seven years of Health and Safety experience in oil and gas.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Physically able to conduct field audits in varying weather conditions in an industrial environment
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Must be able to pass a physical test of pushing, pulling, and lifting a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movements over long periods of time
  • Requires frequent reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing (stairs/ladders) and crouching
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring equipment and materials
