We are seeking a motivated and tech-savvy IT Intern to join our team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in supporting and maintaining our museum’s IT systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and has a strong interest in pursuing a career in information technology.
Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and networking issues.
Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals.
Support IT team in managing user accounts, permissions, and backups.
Monitor and troubleshoot issues related to networks, printers, and other office equipment.
Document IT procedures, updates, and configurations.
Help maintain inventory of IT equipment and supplies.
Assist with cybersecurity tasks such as patching and monitoring.
Participate in IT projects, rollouts, and system upgrades as needed.
Requirements
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows/macOS), and networking.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and common productivity tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
Experience with help desk or IT support tools.
Knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc.).
Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
Familiarity with Active Directory and basic cybersecurity concepts.
Working Conditions
This position works in an active and busy children’s museum setting.
This position:
May require working on a computer for long periods of time, using a keyboard, viewing a digital screen.
Work involves frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
Work may include occasional pushing and/or pulling, lifting, and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds such as patients, files, documents, and computer printouts.
Employee must be able to meet physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Relationships
This position has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities. This position must maintain positive working relationships with management, employees, applicants, vendors and the general public.
