Salary Information- Full Salary Range: $42,072.00 - $75,287.00 Annually
- Expected Hiring Range: $51,182 - $67,351 Annually

About the RolePeer Support Specialist (PSS) works closely with multiple programs under the Community Safety Department, including GSO HOME (Home Outreach Mobile Engagement) to follow-up with referred individuals and provide intensive case management to link them to appropriate community resources. PSS may work with the Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT), as needed, to build rapport with individuals struggling with substance use and mental health concerns. In addition, PSS will collaborate closely with Cone Health to provide consistent engagement and follow-up to individuals who have experienced an accidental overdose.
Key Responsibilities:- Build trust and rapport with referred individuals
- Conduct peer support, education, and outreach services
- Facilitate access to emergency shelter and housing options
- Provide information and referrals for basic needs, medical care, mental health, and substance use treatment
- Assist with connecting individuals to County or State benefits (e.g., disability, food stamps, Medicaid)
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary
- Collaborate with local agencies, community partners, and Greensboro Police Department officers
- Participate in regular meetings and trainings to stay informed and enhance service delivery
- Coordinate referrals and care plans with community agencies and resources
- Attend community and provider meetings as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date program records and documentation in compliance with policies and procedures
This role is a critical part of improving access to services and support for vulnerable individuals in our community.
Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated professional with a strong commitment to helping individuals overcome challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED with 1-3 years of experience in mental health or substance abuse
- Experience with case management
- Certified Peer Support Specialist or eligible for certification based on personal history and current length of recovery
- Valid Driver’s License
