Summary and Attributes: 

Working alongside and taking direction from the Partnerships & Marketing Team, the Marketing &

Events Intern is responsible for helping to facilitate all aspects of scheduled events and promotional

activities. The candidate should have an appreciation for special events management and providing outstanding customer service.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning & Prep: Assist with facilitating the run-of-show; coordinate exhibitors, layouts, staffing, credentials, and creative assets (scripts, slides, video board) for NYSS & Impact Award (Oct 28), Gobble Gobble Games (Nov 22–23), and Harlem Globetrotters (Dec 11).
  • Event-Day Production: Assist with tech rehearsal and cue-to-cue; manage stage/arena flow, check-in, seating/wayfinding, F&B, panelists/talent/VIPs, and contingency plans across all three events.
  • Sponsor Activations & Follow-Up: Assist staff to execute sampling/engagement and scoreboard creative; capture content and KPIs; deliver partner recaps and post-event learnings.
  • Guest database management, lead generation support and data entry.
  • General administrative support.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors on event-related matters for LakePoint-hosted events.
  • Support special projects as required.
  • Assume and perform other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and properly inherent to the position. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Sports Management or other related academic field.
  • Prior experience working with email marketing software is an asset.
  • Prior experience in scheduling and managing events is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, while maintaining and following company event protocols and procedures.
  • Highly professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers in person, through email, and by phone.
  • Ability to assist during evening and weekend events

Work Environment:

  • Office setting with the expectation to attend on campus events.  
  • Regular attendance is a necessary job function required for this position. Typical business hours are anticipated with various attendance hours expected at events which depends on the season, program, or event. Frequent weekend work will be required.
  • Work may take place in an outdoor setting in a variety of weather conditions while standing, walking, bending, and lifting for long periods of time.
