POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Regional Sales Manager, the Territory Pro Sales Representative (TPSR) - THD is responsible for growing and developing OrePac sales through The Home Depot’s (THD’s) evolving Pro Projects channel within the assigned territory.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS PACKAGE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with THD Outside Sales Representatives (OSR’s) and Inside Sales Support teams Representatives (ISSR’s) to identify, develop, and close Pro channel project opportunities. 
  • Lead project management and provide status updates on product and production due dates. Work with OrePac suppliers to identify/confirm correct product fit for project application
  • Promote OrePac’s full line portfolio of products, services, and value propositions. 
  • Run in-store training classes at THD to promote OrePac products and to educate associates on how to utilize OrePac in support of Pro projects.
  • Responsible for driving and communicating outbound customer promotions. Provide literature, marketing supplies, samples, etc. May occasionally be responsible for assembly, maintenance, disassembly, refresh, and placement of displays or event materials within assigned accounts.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot common issues in the field and report back to operations with suggested solutions and/or schedule additional service or a full product replacement. Provide technical guidance to customers and installation teams. Pursue continuous learning in product knowledge, channel needs, and associated services.
  • Walk jobsites to conduct measurements, assessments, and takeoffs, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and installation best practices in construction environments.
  • Perform job-site product training with THD employees and their customers. Perform job-site services, including project walks to confirm product details for Pro projects.
  • Build detailed quotes to support project bidding and sales processes, working with OrePac Product Managers as needed. 
  • Perform materials take-offs on project plans from THD’s Pro channel
  • Identify and participate in opportunities for direct sales engagement within a network of assigned accounts as required.* 

*Not all TPSR positions will have assigned accounts based on geography and business needs.

  • Service accounts in person and via phone, looking for incremental growth opportunities. 
  • Follow company-prescribed methods for documenting, tracking, reporting out, and communicating project activities for later reporting accountability purposes through OrePac’s CRM system (HubSpot).
  • Gather market data and competitor insight to share with Account Executives and Regional Sales Managers. Must be familiar with the competition and how to sell against it.
  • Develop an effective and productive working relationship with OrePac Inside Sales Associates, Product Managers, Supply Chain, Operations, and National Accounts Team to communicate and meet THD’s Pro channel product, project, and service needs, and to develop collateral to support growing sales.
  • Work with OrePac local, regional, and Corporate leadership in developing product and service plans to support THD’s Pro channel.
  • Represent OrePac at regional THD Pro events. Participate in OrePac organizational development meetings for THD’s Pro channel.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong business acumen in regard to sales and knowledge concerning current and possible future industry trends.
  • In-depth understanding of a diverse product portfolio, including doors, millwork, cedar, decking, Tyvek, and related building materials, with strong emphasis on product features, applications, and competitive advantages.
  • Ability to travel (expected to be in the field 75% of the time) throughout the sales territory, including travel to client sites, jobsites, and THD locations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices for product installation, including troubleshooting common issues and providing technical guidance to customers and installation teams.
  • Drive and self-discipline to work independently within the territory to accomplish goals.
  • A pro-active, self-motivated, self-starter, action-oriented personality that drives for results.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people both within the company and in a sales capacity.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, performing accurate takeoffs, and building detailed quotes. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Commitment to and demonstration of high ethical standards governing professional behavior and interactions.
  • Proven proficiency in the use of a personal computer accompanied by a strong aptitude for technical applications.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal formats, including delivering sales presentations. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of the organization.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships, and work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers – both internal and external.
  • Must be currently licensed to drive a car and must be able to comply with state auto insurance requirements and have a proven safe driving record.
  • Demonstrated political acumen skills. Skill in negotiating (including listening and persuasion skills) to reach compromise among people with different points of view and close sales.
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong reading and interpretation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry, including calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • General knowledge and understanding of OSHA guidelines and prescribed industry practices for navigating construction sites and scaffolding.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in outside sales, preferably within the building materials or construction industry, with a focus on collaborating with major retailers like THD's Pro Channel.
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position will be accepted in place of the education and/or experience requirements listed for this role.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to adjust focus, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Occasionally required to lift/move/manipulate up to 50 pounds and team lift/move/manipulate up to 100 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to bend, reach, and climb tall ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • This position operates in a professional office environment, retail warehouse environment, and onsite in the construction field. 
  • This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. 
  • The work environment is generally quiet but can be loud in the retail warehouse environment and in the construction field.
  • This position requires travel throughout the assigned territory at least 75% of the time.
  • The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places.

  • All employees are expected to wear clothing appropriate for the nature of OrePac business and the type of work being performed. Clothing should be neat, clean, and tasteful.
