Internship Duration and Schedule
This internship will run from January 2026 through December 2026, providing a full year of valuable, hands-on experience. We offer a flexible work schedule between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing you to balance academic and personal commitments.
- During the academic year: A minimum commitment of 12 hours per week is required
- During summer months: Availability of at least 30 hours per week is expected

The Opportunity
- Are you ready to turn your classroom knowledge into real-world impact? Realityworks is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our innovative R&D team! This is more than just an internship — it’s a hands-on opportunity to build, create, and engineer the future of educational technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Bring Ideas to Life – Build and refine working product prototypes using a variety of tools and methods including 3D modeling, rubber molding, CNC machining, and hand/power tools like drill presses, band saws, and lathes
- Engineer Real Solutions – Analyze, assemble, test, and fine-tune product systems to ensure they meet performance, reliability, and design goals
- Think Creatively – Contribute to early-stage product ideation through brainstorming, concept reviews, and hands-on collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Visualize Your Vision – Translate ideas into compelling sketches, 3D CAD models, and physical mockups that help bring concepts to life
- Communicate Innovation – Develop clear, detailed descriptions of your product concepts, including their look, function, and construction
- Design Smart – Assist in selecting the right components and developing mechanical test procedures that support robust product development
- Test for Excellence – Execute test plans to verify functionality, quality, and durability of new designs and design improvements
- Document Like a Pro – Accurately record test outcomes, design iterations, and system configurations to ensure traceability and learning
- Improve What Exists – Help develop and refine test strategies to validate new products and upgrades, ensuring continuous innovation
- Drive Better Processes – Evaluate existing tools and workflows and propose enhancements that boost efficiency, safety, and quality
- Ensure Engineering Precision – Create and review technical drawings that meet company formatting and engineering documentation standards
What We’re Looking For
- Actively enrolled in a degree program focused on mechanical engineering
- Must be familiar with basic theories behind mechanical engineering design
- Experience using Microsoft Office
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of 3D CAD system
- Familiarity with engineering tools and test equipment
- Hands-on experience repairing/maintaining/building mechanical systems
- Experience using machine shop tools, such as table saw, belt sander, and hand powered tools
