Assoc Eng Tech Specialist en ComEd

ESA is looking for a highly motivated electrical or software engineer who is technically competent, an effective communicator and a proven team player to join the Applications team.

Interprets and applies engineering standards, practices, philosophy, and regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC CIP standards and Exelon’s OTSG program. Collaborates with other T&S Engineering groups, IT, SCADA, Relay and TCE in ensuring T&S adherence to compliance requirements and field data quality. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers as a result of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles or facilities. Participates in creating, updating, and applying internal/industry standards and technology in a specialized area of expertise. Trains and mentors others. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

• Assists experienced engineers in performing well-defined engineering assignments exercising independent discretion; (e.g. Collect data, perform analysis, interpret results, & draw conclusions)
• Assists in the performance of complex engineering assignments.(e.g. Analyze and interpret the results of power flows and perform electrical tests, and analyze non-specific and ambiguous results)
• Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes; (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices)
• Evaluates effectiveness of current technical systems and processes. Participates on teams; (e.g. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria) 

• Provides technical assistance in support of others.
• Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (non-engineer) (1) or equivalent relevant education / experience (See Section Below) (2) AND 0-2 years field experience in engineering, construction, or applicable utility experience (1) Examples of technical fields (non-engineer) include Engineering Technology, Electronics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, etc. (2) Relevant education / experience is knowledge and skills that may be acquired through job experiences or education programs related to those acquired through a formal technical degree program. Examples include experience gained in a military role applicable to electric power distribution, completion of a journey-level electrician program (e.g., overhead / underground electrician, electrical mechanic), or completion of a company-sponsored technical education program (e.g., Elements of Electrical Engineering (E3) series). The equivalent relevant education / experience is in addition to the position's minimum experience requirements.
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
• Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
• Limited knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installations, or service.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

• Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all management levels.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to analyze industry wide trends and implement enhancements
• Experience working in regulated environments like IT security, data privacy, CEII, and NERC CIP.
• Experience with Powerbase, Crossbow and RTS
