The Claims Manager will oversee the Liability Claims Unit, ensuring the effective management of litigated complex claims with a focus on quality, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role involves strategic leadership, staff development, and collaboration with internal and external parties to achieve optimal claims outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a team of claims professionals handling Complex Liability throughout the United States.
- Review, analyze, and approve claim reserves to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and compliance with company guidelines.
- Monitor claim files for proper investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution in alignment with best practices and legal requirements.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance technical expertise and professional development of the claims staff.
- Conduct regular file audits to ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Attend mediations, trials, and conferences
- Collaborate with internal departments such as Underwriting, Legal, SIU, and Actuarial to support claims handling strategies and business objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and support on complex, high-exposure, or litigated claims.
- Prepare and deliver reports on claim trends, key performance indicators, and departmental metrics to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels to our insureds.
- Works and manages preferred vendors to help assist in claim adjustment such as attorneys, accountants, and independent adjusters.
Qualifications
- Prior experience supervising litigated liability claims
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and computer skills
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize
