Job Description:
Due to an internal promotion! Mucci Farms is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Customs Supervisor to lead our Customs Clearance team. This role is critical in ensuring the timely and accurate movement of produce, samples, and dry goods across borders, while maintaining compliance with all relevant customs laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of Customs Clearance Agents
  • Schedule and communicate coverage for the department
  • Ensure compliance with import/export restrictions, tariff systems, and customs regulations
  • Prepare and process import/export documentation in accordance with customs procedures and legal requirements
  • Verify and process customs documentation for immediate release of shipments
  • Ensure accurate completion of commercial invoices and customs documentation for shipments into the USA and Canada
  • Organize and monitor transportation logistics for imported goods
  • Process ACE and ACI manifests outbound and inbound shipments
  • Communicate shipment priorities and FDA updates to internal teams
  • Manage trailer seal distribution and documentation
  • Process internal pick tickets and C-TPAT documentation
  • Support billing processes and participate in broker meetings
  • Assist with staff performance reviews and training of new Customs team members
  • Calculate and verify duty and tax rates for Mucci clearances
  • Provide drivers with all necessary documentation including BOLs, permits, origin sheets, seals, and customs paperwork
  • Sign certificates of origin for commodities such as peppers and tomatoes
  • Represent Mucci International in dealings with government officials when required 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required with preference given to those with a College Diploma in a related field
  • At least 3 years of customs experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a team in a fast-paced environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience with truck freight.
  • Strong knowledge of the customs tariff, regulations, and customs act
  • Must be familiar with freight forwarding, TMS, LTL and cross border logistics.      
  • Must be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all levels of the organization and interact in a professional manner with regulatory/customs officials 
  • Proven ability to recognize and address problems and issues as they come up 
  • Recognize other government agency involvement, and distribute documents accordingly, such as TSCA, FDA, EPA, Textile declarations, etc.
  • Proven ability to use MS Office, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Email) at an intermediate or advanced level
  • Recognize and apply duty reduction programs such as NAFTA or GSP
  • CCS designation or enrolled in an asset
  • Proven ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Abilities: 

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
  • Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
  • Able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time
  • Work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ˚C / 55 ˚F
