Wyandotte, MI (Onsite)

We are looking for a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to join our Dispersions & Resins (ED) team in Wyandotte, Michigan.

Come create chemistry with us!

We are seeking a professional like you who will be responsible for planning, scheduling and estimating work orders for Maintenance-related work orders.  In this role, you will coordinate maintenance and production schedules, plan and assist with scheduling of maintenance work, and provide prompt and timely service for all customers.  Additionally, you will identify and stage equipment, materials, and tools necessary for maintenance work execution, prepare job packages, input data in SAP for work orders, and maintain ongoing coordination of outside services with various suppliers.

As a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler

  • Leveraging your education and work experience in a chemical/petrochemical or other similar manufacturing environment, you will create job plans for the effective execution of work by providing job scopes, job step sequence, labor and material requirements, skill requirements, specifying the necessary tools and equipment, external resources, and determining work order costs to get them in “Ready to Schedule” status
  • Your ability to work independently with limited supervision to plan and schedule maintenance-related activities will be essential to the role.  The incumbent will be expected to identify permitting requirements and special isolation needs, and coordinate purchase requisitions / purchase orders, contractor quotations and expedite orders to assure scheduled delivery for weekly and turnaround work orders.
  • Demonstrating your administrative and organizational skills, you will create task lists (job plan library) for recurring jobs, purchase requisitions and reservations for necessary materials, equipment or contract services and order material, receive all parts and organize into kits, and create job Packets as needed by providing spec sheets, vendor manuals, P&IDs, pictures, isolation plans, job plan/feedback form, etc.
  • Successfully collaborating with Maintenance Supervisors and Engineers, you will support continuous improvement of job plans by maintaining a spare parts inventory, building and maintaining Bill of Materials for area equipment, continually updating task lists to ensure: necessary changes or improvements are incorporated and efficiencies are captured per job feedback, obtaining and analyzing feedback from the work crew through the job feedback process and updating the task list and job plan libraries.
  • Utilizing your keen sense of detail, you will review work scopes for changes which would result in triggering a Management of Change (MoC), or require further follow-up for Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR).
  • With a focus on efficiency, you will create job plans for the effective execution of Turnaround (Outage) work: job scopes, job step sequence, labor and material requirements, skill requirements, specifying the necessary tools and equipment, external resources, and determining work order costs.
  • Your strong work management skills will be beneficial in this role as you manage the backlog of unplanned work – review the backlog and planning list, clarify incomplete or unclear work notifications, group work orders/notifications together to be completed as a single order, coordinate assemblies for third party repair, and determine the appropriate degree of planning.
  • Given your strength of knowledge of typical maintenance activities conducted at a chemical/ petrochemical plant, you will review the work of maintenance technicians and provide coaching where necessary to improve their skills and knowledge of different types of repair activities.
  • Utilizing your strategic planning ability, you will create a weekly 100% labor loaded maintenance schedule to maximize resource utilization and minimize impact to production, ensuring all required jobs are executed according to their target dates.

If you...

  • High School diploma/GED and at least 5 years of total experience in Maintenance, Reliability or Planning OR within a manufacturing environment, preferably within the Chemical/Petrochemical industry.
  • Have experience using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint) and SAP.
  • Training and/or experience of Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
  • Having experience using Micosoft Project and/or P6/Primavera for project management/maintenance processes is an asset.
