JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Test Engineer develops and implements testing processes to validate skid assembly performance against customer specifications, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance. Continuously improves test methods and equipment to enhance safety, efficiency, reliability, and product quality.
Essential Functions
· Identifies and interprets customer test specifications and industry standards applicable to skid assemblies and integrated electrical systems.
· Develops acceptance criteria, test reports, and certifications for internal use and for delivery to customers.
· Develops, documents, and implements testing processes and procedures to ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory codes, and VanTran quality standards.
· Provides training and guidance to technicians and operators on safe and proper execution of test procedures.
· Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and standards during the testing process, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and electrical safety practices.
· Designs and maintains test fixtures, instrumentation, and equipment required to perform functional, electrical, and performance testing on skid assemblies.
· Maintains test results for electrical, mechanical, and environmental validation tests of products with accuracy and traceability.
· Analyzes test data, troubleshoot failures, and collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve issues.
· Ensures all test equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and safe for use in high-voltage and manufacturing environments.
· Supports customer Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and provide technical explanations of results and processes.
· Leads continuous improvement initiatives in testing methods to increase efficiency, repeatability, and accuracy.
· Participates in new product development by designing and validating test requirements for prototypes and pilot builds

Supervisory Responsibility
This role has no direct supervisor responsibilities.
Environment/Physical Requirements
The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department in the Office and Factory Floor.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. However, depending on workload there may be occasional longer days and occasional weekends as needed. Employee is expected to work the necessary hours to complete all tasks on time and to a satisfactory standard.
Travel
Regular travel is not required for this position.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with testing electrical systems preferred
